Black malt is a heavily roasted malt which tends to impart a sharp, acrid flavour and black colour. It is often used for sweet stouts, porters, and other dark beers.
Used in low proportions, black malt will add colour to beers without a significant flavour impact. At a slightly higher rate, it will contribute dark, roasted flavours; overuse will lend an ashy flavour.
Available uncrushed or crushed in-house on request.
